CEDAR PARK, TEXAS – So many of our nation’s heroes risk their lives and fight for this country only to come home and face extreme physical and emotional hardships, financial ruin, joblessness and sometimes even homelessness. Cedar Park Overhead Doors (CPOD) has partnered with Operation Finally Home (OFH) and Henley Homes to help provide our nation’s heroes, and the widows of fallen soldiers, a home to call their own.

Operation Finally Home, a non-profit organization created in 2005, provides custom-built, mortgage-free homes to America’s wounded and disabled service members and the widows of the fallen. OFH has partnered with Henley Homes, Inc., along with other local home service businesses, to help build a custom home for U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Ray Coffey. In August 2014, at a Round Rock Express game, Henley Homes and OFH announced they would be building the Coffey’s a house in Georgetown, TX.

Since SSgt. Clifton “Ray” Coffey was a little boy, he always new he wanted to be a Marine, so he joined the military in 1998. During Coffey’s second deployment to Iraq in February 2004, a large insurgent force attacked him and his fellow Marines. Coffey was wounded by the blast of an improvised explosive device (IED) and suffered injuries during the attack. Despite his wounds, he continued to lead the attack and purposely placed himself in the line of fire, which created a diversion, allowing his wounded Marines to evacuate. When SSgt. Coffey returned home, he was presented with numerous awards including a Purple Heart, a Navy and Marine Achievement Medal and a Bronze Star with the combat “v” device. To read SSgt. Coffey’s full story, visit http://operationfinallyhome.org/home/u-s-marine-corps-staff-sgt-clifton-ray-coffey/

Henley Homes has worked with CPOD in the past and knew they would be a great asset to this project, so Henley Homes approached Don Grenier and asked if he would donate a custom garage door for SSgt. Coffey’s new home. Grenier, a former member of the US Air Force was pleased to join in the efforts and is proud to say Cedar Park Overhead Doors is giving back to one of our nation’s wounded heroes.

“A few of our employees are veterans and they are such a valuable part of the CPOD team. These brave men and women put their lives on the line everyday so we can be safe and secure in this country,” said Grenier. “Being able to support an American hero and his family is something we are very proud to be apart of. Knowing that CPOD is involved in helping this family put a roof over their heads is priceless.”
